Opus celebrates Thankgiving weekend !!

The 'जीना Forever' memorial concert was a musical tribute to celebrate the life and legacy of Gina Braganza and featured an electrifying performance by AGNEE.
The event also marked the launch of the जीना Forever Foundation for disadvantaged/aging musicians. Funds for the Foundation will be raised through contributions from well wishers and the Opus community of music lovers. The जीना Forever Music Label of Inspirational/Gospel Music was officially launched in Pune at the concert which also saw the release of a commemorative CD in honour of Gina featuring singers from across the length and breadth of India.

The Good, The Bad and The AGNEE !!

Kingfisher ABANDONFRIDAY with Agnee 20th Nov, 8:30 pm onwards:

Mohan: The lead vocalist of the band, Mohan's primary musical instrument is the Mridangam. Mohan's forte is the way he manages to combine his understanding of melody and rhythm together to create his own unique style, both in compositions as well as on stage.
Koko: The lead guitarist of the band, Koko's sound is one that has inspired musicians all over India to take up the guitar. He incorporates various other styles of playing, including finger picking, jazz, funk and a lot of acoustic playing with equal panache, giving the band a wider musical range.

Varun: Clinical Psychologist, Music Therapist and Musician, Varun aims to reach out to as many people as possible with the concept of universality of rhythm and through Agnee, expresses himself musically with his holistic approach towards percussion and rhythm. He has been playing the drums for as long as he can remember and teaches drums and percussion for over 5 years and counting.

Rushad: Also known as ‘The Wall’, Rushad is known for his characteristic improvisational harmonic abilities, sound funk pocket playing, slapping, snapping, popping and altogether grooving. Rushad was a part of Agnee during the launch in 2007 and then left for Canada where he toured with Canadian Pop Rock outfit QED and is now back to rejoin his family.

Michael: The busiest musician in the band, playing, on an average, eight shows a week, Michael comes from Goa and loves nothing more than lying on the beach with his fenny and an acoustic guitar; which is what he does in Agnee (minus the fenny of course) Michael was a part of Ezee Meat and is now a part of Strange Brew and doesn’t remember the last day he went without singing, playing or teaching music.

The show will also announce the launch of the Gina Forever Foundation that will provide support for aging musicians in India. “We’ve been touched by the lives and stories of musicians who, for various reasons, have been financially hit and Gina often spoke about wanting to support them. It is only fitting that we honour Gina’s memory by giving back to a cause that was so close to her heart,” said Carlton. Funds for the Foundation will be raised through contributions from well wishers and the Opus community of music lovers. Proceeds from the sale of tickets will go towards the Gina Forever Foundation.

Come along with Sheridan the “Blondie” (The Good), “Angel Eyes” Vivek (The Bad) and Carlton “Tuco”(The Ugly) on their crazy night of Country as they try to live out a long complicated story which involves, well, singing and a lot more. जीना Forever !

Gina Forever, a tribute Concert to be held at Opus in the Creek on the 6th of November, 8:30 pm (IST)

It will feature young musicians whose paths she helped define like Karan Joseph, Megha Girish, Mark Swaroop, Venkat Subramaniyam, Judy Das and more, and older, established artists whose lives she touched, purely by being her like Gerard Machado, Stanley Pinto, Vinoo Mathew, Silu Jamal, Floyd Fernandes, Agnee and many more.

The event will also announce the birth of the Gina Forever Foundation that will provide support for aging musicians in India. “We’ve been touched by the lives and stories of musicians who, for various reasons, have been financially hit and Gina often spoke about wanting to support them. It is only fitting that we honour Gina’s memory by giving back to a cause that was so close to her heart,” said Carlton. Funds for the Foundation will be raised through contributions from well wishers and the Opus community of music lovers.

The Gina Forever concert will also see the launch of an Inspiration/Gospel music label and a commemorative CD in honour of Gina featuring singers from across the length and breadth of India, some of whom have recorded songs specifically for the purpose.
The CD features artists like Remo Fernandes, Soulmate, Vivienne Pocha, Ashu, Louis Banks, Skinny Alley, Junkyard Groove, Thermal and a Quarter, Galeej Gurus, and loads by the Opus talent.

The event is a first of many kinds. It is the First Anniversary of http://www.myopusradio.com/, Gina’s pet project.
